Ubud is the cultural capital of Bali, and is surrounded by small villages, rice fields, temples and jungle. In the center of the capital, tourists can enjoy the traditional Barong and Kris dance performances. Also special is to visit the Batik production center, where tourists can take place in the Batik classes. During these lessons you will learn all about the traditional Indonesian textiles and you guided your own batik pattern designs. Finally, it is a must to visit the collection of over 400 paintings and sculptures in the Radana Fine Art Gallery.
Furthermore Bali culturally known for its peculiar ceremonies. The ceremony which is the most interesting for tourists is the ngaben. The cremation ceremony is held by Balinese for their deceased relatives with debt settlement to the deceased central. Besides cremation ceremonies are also held ceremonies for the living people, including the ceremony of cutting the teeth. This ceremony is done in the transition from childhood to adulthood and usually takes place in July and August. Long teeth are mistaken for lust, greed, deceit and jealousy. The ceremony is performed by a professional.

At 25 meters depth, divers can find the wreck of the former American warship USS Liberty. The ship was during World War II under and is now the icon of Tulamben.
